Bucking Fastard left this review about Three Horseshoes

Situated at Hooks Cross, between Watton at Stone and Stevenage, this is a Mc Mullen's tied house with a focus on food.A 1930's building with a front entrance on one corner,to the left of the entrance is a large lounge with a raised area at the rear and the bar occupying the opposite wall. All tables are numbered ,ordering food at the bar but you can just sit and drink in this part of the pub. There is a real fire and the decor includes a lot of wood, with a bareboarded floor, all very neat and tidy. The pub is family friendly, which may mean you will have to contend with exuberant behaviour if parents are slow to regulate their offspring. To the right of the entrance ,through an archway is a restaurant with table service. However the menu is the same in both areas, slightly pricey pub grub with a blackboard advertising a few daily specials.I enjoyed my meal with the veg fresh and well cooked ,some evidence of a foodservice pie and mash however. The wife liked her veggie option.
There were three ales available Country Bitter(£3.32 a pint definitely pricey) and Mac's attempt at an IPA while the third handpump offered a "guest" in the form of Whole Hop Brewery Chancellor's Revenge which is actually brewed by Mc Mullens and badged to confuse punters,in the same way as Greene King does with Westgate Brewery pump clips.Bad practice IMHO.
My Country Bitter was drinkable but cloudy and although I would eat in here again,I would not choose this as a venue to enjoy a few pints.
