Bucking Fastard left this review about The Prince Of Wales

Whitewashed village local ,open plan but divided into a drinkers area around the bar,and a small restaurant to the rear. The taproom has basic furniture,a small banquette, couple of round tables together with some chrome stools,a few high chairs,a pool table, quiz machine and flat screen(off on my visit) There are two fireplaces to either side of the bar ,both used with logs in cold weather. The bar surround has been revamped in a modern style and that theme has been carried on in the dining area where light fitments ,wallpaper and curtains all have that modern makeover feel. The muzak really was too loud for a quiet bit of nosh however. The kitchen up a few steps to the rear of the building is open to view,a modern idea which gives confidence that proper cooking goes on here.
I was in to eat and my Sunday roast (£8.95) was very good, properly carved off a joint. At other times there is good value pub grub on offer, mains generally between £5-£7.50.Pub is closed on Mondays. At the bar there are four handpumps service Courage Best,Hopback Summer Lightening(a little long in the tooth),Oakham Apple cider with the fourth reversed on my visit.I noticed on the wall that the pub has been awarded Oakadamy status,so expect Oakham brews on a regular basis.
The tap room is a popular spot with the locals and the village cricket team are often in so the atmosphere is genuine and friendly.I was pleasantly surprised by the food and wouldn't hestitate using the pub again for a meal .Beware the front door opens straight onto a corner in the lane if barreling out.
