As others have stated, this is essentially a pub cum Thai restaurant. The Thai theme runs right through the pub from when you walk in the main door and encounter a Buddha on the right and a Naga on the left. There is dark wood all over the pub, including some impressive carved murals at back on the left near the entrance to the Thai restaurant. Other decor of note was the chinaware displayed on beams and above ledges high on the walls. I also spotted a bit of jade, as well as a stags head, above a fireplace on the right. I did see one tall table with its attendant tall stools, but furnishings are mainly normal tables and chairs with the occasional settle, sofa and armchairs dotted around the place. There's a large car park at the front, which is a major asset for a pub like this.
Now on to the serious stuff. The three ales on were Sharp's Doom Bar, GKIPA, and the excellent Tring Brewery's extravagantly named Side Pocket for a Toad. The latter ale was £3.40 a pint, which is not excessive these days. I was in at a time when the Thai restaurant wasn't open, so unfortunately didn't get to see a menu.
I rather liked this pub. They've obviously gone to a lot of trouble to make the interior warm and appealing. Now that The Jester's closed, this really is a pub version of "the last man standing". Nonetheless, although I can't see me making regular trips to Cockfosters, but if I was in this area again I would certainly be very happy to renew my aquaintance with this pub.

Sadly, due to the long slow demise of most other pubs in the Oakwood and Cockfosters area, such as the long gone Trent Tavern and Merryhills, the Cock and Dragon is virtually the only pub in the area, especially if you discount the shop converted Irish pub close to Oakwood station.
Fortunately it does remain a very good traditional pub and has managed to do this by embracing the need for expanded dry sales by having a very decent Thai restaurant in a self-contained restaurant room at the back of the pub whereas the front, former two bar section remains a very decent traditional pub area for wet sales.
The bar is in the middle as you enter , and there are seating areas to left and right. The left hand section is smarter, but the right hand section remains my favourite to get a seat, as it retains a tradition local pub feel with bookcases, glass cased stuffed fish and birds, and other assorted tat. But modern trends have been catered to by the inclusion of two flat screen teles in this area, although usually with the sound down.
The usual range of chrome fizz taps are complemented by three ale pumps which provide a changing range of beers. In this respect it can be a bit hit and miss for the available choice and you could be unlucky and enter when the offering is unexciting, or lucky as I was last Saturday evening when the ubiquitous Doombar was complemented by Woodforde Wherry and Adnams Ghost Ship Pale Ale.
One issue however is that this is not a cheap place to drink and the prices do reflect the lack of competition in the area.

I go in here occasionally for a few Pints after work if I'm working in the cockfosters area as this is now One of the best Pubs around the Oakwood & Cockfosters area. I find it Has that nice old fashion country Pub feel to it. As you go in the front door the left hand side is more the Food side but the Right hand side is more traditional Old Pub style. Although it sells good food It has not been turned into one of those horrible Gastro type Pubs and keeping it slightly separate means it is still a traditional Pub where you can go just for a few pints of excellent Quality Real Ales on tap. Which just Proves If Its done Properly a Pub can still sell food and not be ruined. I would say its well worth a visit during the weekday early evenings.
