Mainly a restaurant, the Harvester was formerly a pub called The Mermaid. The business occupies two floors of this modern commercial building, but the top floor is currently unused. The ground floor is primarily a restaurant and has no proper area for vertical drinking. We were told that there is a plan to reinstate the top bar later this year as a drinker's area. The only beer available was Speckled Hen which was predictably bad, overgassed and overchilled. The staff were reasonably friendly, but that wasn't really enough to keep us there for long. This pub is the worst of the food outlets and the poorest of the three pubs on this site, so I really don't see any reason to return until the top bar is ready to trial.

The Mermaid is now part of Harvester chain [it always served food anyway, but was not part of chain]
PS Not sure if Mermaid name has remained or is now Port Solent Harvester
