All changed from Blackthorn_'s review below. Now an Indian restaurant. There is a solitary ale on Sharp's Doom Bar and a patio out front is a decent escape to enjoy your pint from the bustle of waiters inside. If you visit during inclement weather or in the winter months, then good luck.

From the outside this looks like a traditional and quite attractive stone built pub with a few picnic benches and an old beer barrel in the garden at the front, and being in a small village this is indeed what you might expect to find. The first clue that something might be a slightly amiss is the unusual blue lighting around the rather modern pub sign, and as soon as you get inside you realise that this is in fact, an Indian restaurant in all but name.

The area at the front of the “pub” house the bar counter and there was a fire-place here with an electric coal effect fire and a couple of low sofas, although this reminded me of many Indian restaurants that have an area to wait for your take-away rather than sup a pint. Décor wise it is all very contemporary in contrast to the exterior, and has clearly been extensively refurbished with any remnants of pubiness being expunged. Flooring here is wood laminate and beyond the sofas were a few tables and chairs but these were all aid up in typical fashion with cutlery, wine glasses, starched cotton linen and fantailed serviettes.

A smaller snug area to the right is perhaps the one pub concession with the tables here presumably designed for drinking, although this too was very contemporary with high stools and the tables all being circular glass. At the rear is a very large conservatory that triples the size of the pub. This had a high ceiling with a couple of fans and a chandelier, a tiled floor and a portable gas heater in the corner which somewhat spoilt the elegant look they were presumably trying for. The menu is a typical Indian affair with an extensive selection of the usual staples. I went for the Chicken Patia as I invariably do, and this was a decent and tasty dish.

The solitary beer on tap was Young’s Bitter, whilst the solitary cider tap was for Stowford Press which lifted my spirits somewhat, although unfortunately it transpired that a problem with the chiller meant that this was off. This is a tricky one to mark – as a restaurant it’s actually not bad at all, but then this is a pub review website and it’s difficult to imagine anyone popping in here just for a pint, especially as my Cobra cost me £4.50.
