A traditional local on a narrow back road, probably best reached by foot from the Sainsbury’s car park side and across the bridge as parking is problematic. There is a small garden at the back and some bench seating at the front. The single large L-shaped bar is part carpeted, part laminate, and it’s served by two counters from a central bar, a relic of the knocking through of the original bars. The décor is basic but homely, a few dining tables and dried hops hanging from the ceiling. There were 5 barrels on stillage behind the bar, but the only ale on was Doombar which was in excellent condition. There is a dartboard but no WiFi. There was a TV at one end showing soaps, while unobtrusive background music played at the other end. Staff were friendly, locals nice enough. Basic hot food was available, which represented good value for money. It’s a reasonable place to spend an evening and I’d like to come back when there are more ales on.

Situated near Fareham this is a tidy 'locals' pub'. When we first walked in we thought it was a larger bozzer but hey! There's eight barrels of ale on and their serving a great pint of 'Summer lightning'. The wags at the bar were friendly as were the staff. You can sit outside and watch the river Wallington across the street. A great little find this one.
