Requested be closed with reason - Other: Boarded up, and has been for some time. Local information is that some work has been done on it recently, though it is hard to spot any evidence for this.

This oak framed building situated on the banks of the Irwell was built in 1930 to satisfy the thirst of punters at the nearby Manchester racecourse which sadly closed in 1963. The Oakwell brewery from Barnsley closed the pub in 2013 but now is open again as a Sam Smiths pub and had a full a full restoration.

Excellent well maintained pub, very friendly staff....a brilliant atmosphere!
