There was a real ale on in here - Adnam's Ghost Ship at £1.60 a half (£3.20 a pint?). There was no sign of food at Wednesday lunchtime.

This pub is on CAMRA's Regional Inventory of pubs with historic interiors. This inter-war pub still has its original traditional split between public and saloon bars, and it looks as if a jug and bottle bar has been subsumed into the public bar. The fitting, including the fielded wood panelling on the walls, as well as on the partition between to public and saloon bars, and bar counter are original. I sat in the public bar which had a grubby carpet on the floor, a single normal table with half a dozen chairs, plus a number of tall tables and tall stools. There's also a pool table and dartboard in here, and some phone-in radio show was playing. I also saw karaoke and some live reggae outfit advertised.

The saloon bar has better furnishings in some normal tables and chairs, and in general was a more comfortable place to sit than the public bar - which is how they were always meant to be. There's a small car park at the front.

This is an ordinary backstreet locals' pub, even though it has a large footprint. It doesn't look like its changed much over the years, and long may it remain so. But I am biased in favour of these traditional old pubs. My Ghost ship was in decent shape as well.

The Wheatsheaf is a decent looking back street pub.
Once inside there is a U shaped room to the front which has lots of wood panelling, there is a pool table to the front left and darts board to the front right, the room is carpeted and has normal tables and chairs for seating, plus a few tall tables and chairs, there was a TV to the right showing tennis from Wimbledon.
There are no real ales in the front room but there is a separate room to the rear right which has an handpump on the bar, this was Doom Bar and it was a decent enough drink.
There was background music playing.
I thought this was a decent enough locals pub to have a drink in.
