The New Inn is another traditional pub offering in the village of Roydon, originally built in 1760’s and still retains the character of a building of this age. Primarily a one roomed pub based around the main bar area with a welcoming log fire and traditional beams with a good collection of horse brasses. But additionally the pub has a separate dining room which can be hired for private functions and there is a smaller separate section off the main bar with additional seating and a dart board.
Out back there is an attractive beer garden with a large, secure children’s play area, a purpose built BBQ area and heated smoking shelter.
Possibly the exception in the village, the New Inn is dog and children friendly and children are allowed in the bar area up to 9pm.
The bar supports three real ale handpumps, but unfortunately for us, on our visit the regular Adnams Broadside and GK IPA were complemented by Courage Best , so the usual ubiquitous area offerings and not an inspiring choice for our last pub visit in Roydon. But this is a nice traditional pub and hopefully you will be luckier with the beer choice when you visit.

A pretty, traditional boozer in pretty, traditional village. The New Inn doesn't disappoint inside either and regular pub goers over the past half century will recognise and feel at home in here. Patterened carpets and benches along with dark wood tables many of which are laid for food.
Beer is Adnams Broadside and GK IPA witha guest of Crouch Vale Brewers Gold. The Brewers Gold was clear, clean, crisp and one of the best pints I've had in this region.
Certainly worth a visit if only for a gamble on the guest ale.

A single roomed pub ,essentially a lounge with many dining tables and a few smaller copper topped circular tables. There is a small bar with three handpumps serving GK IPA,Adnams Bitter with the guest beer the ever reliable Crouch Vale Brewers Golds in absolutely top condition. This would gladden the heart of any real ale fan ,one can only hope the future selection of the guest beer will be as inspired.Food is served until 9.30pm most days from a standard looking pub grub menu and there is a senior citizens lunchtime deal. The gents is up a short flight of stairs and could cause the unwary to make a spectacular return to the lounge.Piped commercial radio a little out of place but the friendly welcome and fine ale would warrant a return visit.
