This unusual pub name refers to Jack Rann who was a highwayman and was hanged at the age of 24 in 1774 at Tyburn. He was called Sixteen String Jack because he used to wear sixteen different coloured strings on his knee breeches,he was reported as having several women at his last dinner and done a jig as he was waiting to be hanged.(Probable been drinking GK,So take heed!)
