An attractive pub in an idyllic location opposite the green and the duck pond in this very attractive village, there is a decent amount of seating at the front to make the most of the outlook and this was certainly a popular spot on our recent mid-week lunch time visit.

Internally it’s very pleasant with a cosy, olde worlde charm. There’s a low beamed ceiling, carpet on the floor, leaded windows and a free standing dual aspect brick chimney breast with a wood burning stove. The walls were predominantly painted in a shade of khaki green, although there was also some patterned wallpaper. A large display cabinet in one corner housed a collection of old model cars, and there were also some old Ford Consul adverts on the wall in the loo.

Despite four hand pumps on the bar, only two were in use dispensing Mason’s Silver Adder and Bishop Nick’s Heresy. A third pump had the clip reversed whilst the fourth appeared unused. Ciders meanwhile were Symonds Founders Reserve and Orchard Thieves. Overall, a great pub in a lovely location and well worth a visit.

A great pub set in a very picturesque village, can get really busy with food. They serve takeaway fish and chips every night, they say call in for a pint while your food is freshly prepared, good idea! Enjoyed the the real ales two from Adnams and two from Nethergates - ain't tried the fish and chips yet.
