On a recent visit to Eastbourne I stopped at what had once been my local for a pint and a bite to eat. Having enjoyed many afternoons drinking at Arlington Arms I was disappointed to find the friendly Landlord and Landlady had left 18 months before.

What had once been a well kept family pub had become a bit of a home for the down and outs. As I entered the pub I could feel all eyes on me, not a nice feeling for someone entering the pub alone.

I ordered a pint of Carling which was flat the minute it was poured and having had my glass changed 3 times there was little improvement, needless to say I didn't bother with the food as it was clear I had interrupted the barmaid in what was clearly a very important conversation with her friend!

If you enjoy your beer and like good friendly company I would give this pub a miss.

This pub is ok with a general mix of characters from chavs to rockers that all seem to get along. The staff are very friendly and the beer is good, although only Harveys was on during my visit. There are another couple of pumps, but these were either off or unused. There is also a selection of standard lager available alongside Stowford Press Cider.

The pub is quite large with a dining type area, that was closed during my evening visit, that comes off one of the bar areas. This side had an excruciatingly loud karaoke machine playing with some dreadful drunk singers so I upped sticks and went to the more civilised bar around the other side. This bar has a couple of plasmas, a pool table and bar billiards. There is also a beer garden out the back and the bus stop is directly outside the front door.

I've been into this pub a few times to watch the football, but I wouldn't bother any other time.
