Steve C left this review about The Ship Inn
The Ship Inn is located just up the road from Southwick Station and it has a paved beer garden out the back along with a small car park. A sign outside proudly boasts that this is the oldest traditional pub in Southwick, which isn’t hard as to my knowledge there are only three others. The interior is split into two cosy bars and the left hand side had four hand pumps which were drawing Seafarers, HSB, ESB and Hophead. The right hand side has a limited standard draught selection available and there is also a dart board by the entrance. The walls are adorned with maritime artefacts and memorabilia and the door joining the two bars has a porthole in it. I didn’t spot any TV screens and annoyingly a radio station was playing in the background, but this was my only real gripe with the pub.
This is very much a local’s pub, but I wasn’t made to feel unwelcome and the barmaid was very friendly. I will return if I’m ever in the area again.
