Walking along the Esplanade early on a recent Thursday afternoon I decided to stop off at Banus with the family for a spot of lunch. We grabbed one of the covered café tables out the front and ordered some reasonably priced food off of the very friendly waiter. The food arrived promptly and turned out to be very nice. I didn’t get to venture into the actual building during this visit so I decided to revisit during my crawl of the area in the evening. There were still people eating and drinking out the front at 19:30, but it was much quieter inside the square dining/bar area. The bar is located in the rear left hand corner and there is a large tropical fish tank to the side. A DJ was setting up for the evening so I imagine that the kitchen was soon to close. Live entertainment is advertised for most nights so I expect that there is a late license. The drinks selection is uninspiring as only four or five draught products are available.

I’d have no hesitation in revisiting here for some more lunch, but I wouldn’t bother again in the evening as there are more comfortable bars along this stretch.

The Weymouth Arms was on the sea front and it was a single bar one roomed pub.
Once inside here the bar was on the left and there was a longish narrow room,the pub looked very down at heel and the carpets were sticky.
This was a Courage house but there were no real ales on here we had a drink of keg Courage best which was'nt that good.

Note:This pub has either gone or changed its name.
