Completely unprepossessing from the outside, but actually not bad inside for a modern pub and relatively pleasant, at least on a weekday lunchtime. Lots of room for drinking without being overwhelmed by the darts, pool etc and not all laid up for dining, as so many pubs are. Even the beer situation seems to have improved since the last review, with the sampled Boondoggle being in perfectly drinkable form (note now Cask Marque listing.

This busy flat-roofed estate pub forms part of a shopping complex which is dominated by Asda's supermarket and garage, and includes essentials such as a beauty salon and a betting shop. The name comes from Haymoor Bottom, a nearby nature reserve. It is currently operated by the Sizzling chain. There is plenty of parking, shared by all the businesses around it. The bar is a single large irregular-shaped room, carpeted and decorated in a ghastly melange of colours which, it seems, no-one else wanted, and a garish carpet. There is a pool table, a dartboard, tv screens and a picture window allowing a ringside view of the local 'lads' - many of whom sport recently broken noses and various cuts and bruises - as they gather noisily outside to share a brain cell. The staff were fine, while of the customers who were seated inside, around half were able to hold a conversation without swearing loudly too much. There is food on offer, apparently, but we didn't try it. The really bad thing about this place is its beer - two ales on tap, I tried the Ringwood Best and it came out like yoghurt, and took at least 5 minutes to settle. It tasted awful and was much too cold. A pub that completely lives down to the standards I expect of Sizzling, it is somewhere I doubt I shall ever re-visit.
