Built in the 1860s, the pub takes its name from Beacon Court Road, which in turn was named after the location of a nearby 16th Century invasion warning beacon. The larger bar on the right continues to host various live music acts, while there are 2 tv screens on the other side used to show Sky Sports. There is a mix of wooden and carpeted floors, and some of the original architectural features are visible, such as columns to support the extensive ceiling, stained glass and etched windows and the original tiles in the lavatory. It was a bit quiet during this visit, which made the large rooms echo. Only one ale on, Spitfire, which was past tis best. OK for a few pints when the beer's on form.

The beacon Court Tavern is a large pub with an L shaped bar to the left and a larger room to the right that was hosting a live band night with an entrance fee of £4. I decided to stay in the bar area away from the head banging live music and listen to some random songs off the jukebox. The bar is stocked with Shepherd Neame draught and the two hand pumps were drawing Spitfire and a guest. Either side of the bar there is a pool table and the plasma screen shows Sky Sports. The crowd seemed to be mixture of students and bikers which led to an interesting atmosphere, without a hint of trouble.

This is a decent pub for a lads night out.
