Some of the furniture has clearly migrated from the previous site, so the new Anchored comes across as a kind of slightly bigger version of its predecessor, albeit with some outside seating on a low-traffic square near the seafront.

Anchored is an operation which adheres closely to the original micropub rulebook so you shouldn't be surprised to encounter a somewhat passive aggressive A-board near the door that is as keen to emphasise what it doesn't sell (tea/coffee, lager, keg stuff) as what it will (primarily ales and ciders from Sussex).

3 ales are dispensed from the cool room and the customer turnover was sufficiently brisk to get me a seat without too much of a delay.

With a larger floorspace, I found the new pub to be more impersonal than the old and, with just 3 ales on the go, rates as more of a pit stop than a destination in my estimation.

Moved from its old site to larger premises in what was a former wine bar very close to the seafront in a popular pedestrianised area. 6 tables of the tall thin type with stools, and one of traditional height. Cold room and unisex toilet at the rear. Seating area outside the front of the pub. Still the same ethos of selling Sussex produced ales, cider, and wines. Beers from Gun, Goldmark, and Langhams were on when I visited but the choice changes frequently - beers and ciders are listed on a blackboard inside the pub. Step free access with ramps throughout but perhaps there's too much furniture for easy access by wheelchair users. Table service as before, but there's also a counter for ordering. Card and cash payments accepted.
