David Walton left this review about Soul Mama
Visited 10/06/26. Visited previously as Northwood on 18/01/24.
No draught beer. Typical range of beers by bottle and can.
Plush music / Jamaican restaurant on the balcony level in Angel Centre not too far from the tube station. There is an outside seating area and inside it is a generally bare boarded with the bar counter on the right-hand wall just inside the glass frontage. Seating via leather banquettes to the left of the entrance and along the rear wall and some booth tables down the right-hand wall beyond the end of the bar counter. The large stage is on the left-hand wall mid venue and there is a tile skirt to the left-hand edge of the stage and more narrowly along its frontage, there being a lot of small / two person tables on this area around the stage providing good viewing of the stage action. More tables in the centre of the floor space and serving the banquettes set for diners. Very ambient lighting and a good music soundtrack on during my visit when there was no live music. Some large screens on the rear part of the right-hand wall and on the rear wall showing promotional videos for the venue and previous stage action on my visit. Rates lowly as a beer destination, but so not that part of the market in terms of who it is trying to attract.
