E TA left this review about Bishop's Eye

A European-style café bar spread over two floors of the gatehouse to the Abbey, in a prime position overlooking the old market square. Th architectural features give it character, including timber floor boards, leaded windows and the narrow staircase. There are a few seats and tables at the front for those who don’t mind crowds or cold weather, depending on the season. The young staff are welcoming while the landlord is more a front-of-house sort. There is no real ale, just two craft offerings from Yonder, Helles and Salad Days. Wine was available on tap or in bottles, and bottled cider and beer were also o offer. Coffee and cake were also available, and there was water provided for the dogs. It’s a pleasant place to sit and take a breather, but the lack of ale means its not really somewhere for a session.
