Is it a pub, cafe, bar or eatery? Beans on Toast - on an extensive breakfast menu are £7 - so that may help you make a decision. RAR "French Style Cafe" fits the bill nicely. If they had beans in France.

The beer is far more reasonable - White Rat for just over £4. Excellent condition - but with every table setup like a cafe - including one that had a baby having a nappy changed on top of it (Jesus!) - I decided the street was a better place for drinking.

A million tramps cannot be wrong.

Another pub in the ever expanding 1936 Pub Co group. They now have 5 pubs in the Lark Lane area and seem to be doing well here. This is a French style cafe/bar with an upstairs seating area. Very busy on my Monday visit. Beautiful old bar on the right hand side of the side street entrance. 3 handpumps with a Lilley's cider and 2 ales, White Rate & Salopian Shropshire Gold, priced at £4.30 a pint. Has those annoying candles on tables, it's trendy with plants hanging from the ceilings and those American type ceiling fans. There's also an upstairs seating area, which we were chucked out of as the staff were preparing it for a private function. It's nice enough but not really my sort of place.

A small corner cafe bar. The place serves 6 keg beers from 2 T-bars and 3 handpulls for real ale. Today's real Ale choice was Beartown Best Bitter and Chapter Dead Mans Fist. It's fairly typical of a cafe style place and the eye watering £4.40 for a pint of cask nearly makes you call out for a strong black coffee. But at their prices drinking up and leaving is the more sensible option.
