E TA left this review about The Barge

How fantastic to see this pub reverting back to its original role after a few years in the wilderness as a 'smokehouse' burger joint called Hickory's. The interior has been substantially refurbished including the modern restaurant at the rear, meaning it now looks and feels like a proper pub with a dedicated vaulted dining area. The main bar at the front is formed from two earlier rooms, both with open fires which provide plenty of warmth. There is limited parking outside, a couple of spaces at the front and a rather scruffy parking area on the low side. There is a good sized garden, which houses covered seating areas. The landlord was very welcoming and helpful, and locals have started using the pub again as a village social centre. Cask ale is available again, rather than the misleading dispense keg that the previous incarnation sold. This visit saw Otter Bitter and Amber plus Exmoor Gold on draught, all in very good condition. Devon Red and Devon Mist cider were also available next to a keg range of Cruzcampo, Moretti, Guinness, Thatcher's Gold,Amstel and Hawkstone Session Lager. We didn't eat, but the food looked like good value. I'd be very happy to come back.
