Towards the bottom of Marlow's High Street, this former coffee shop premises has converted into the 'Crafty Taproom' with a view to "bringing craft beer to Marlow". This soft-launched on 20th November, opening for good the next day which coincided with the closure of the High Street for the switching on of Marlow's Christmas lights by ex-Eastender Ross 'Super Army Soldiers' Kemp. A rather piney interior (pine bar front, tables and floor) sees a deep bar to the left with butchers-style white tiles and tables against the right-hand wall. Aesthetic accoutrements include a wall-mounted bicycle with a torso mannequin covered in beer labels; the bike's basket is filled with crafty cans, and below this is a fridge full of cans and bottles to either takeaway or consume on the premises. Some local art on the walls is available to purchase (a Warholesque Marilyn was a cool £1,750 for the privilege) and there are some board games towards the back of the room. Each table contains the day's beer menu - 10 x taps including 2 x real ales - with a mostly local slant (Fisher's, Loddon, Mad Squirrel and Tap Social on this visit) although they had recently had Titanic's Plum Porter on and are served as half-pints, two-thirds or pints. This is where eyebrows may be raised as most two-thirds came in at the £4 mark, meaning pints were priced from £5.00 up to £10.00 for Cloudwater's Confirmation Bias DIPA - either the prices confirm the premium pricing of craft beer as a whole or they justify the likely premium position of this establishment on Marlow's High Street.
