Blackthorn _ left this review about Victualling Office

An attractive and traditional looking pub with etched windows and hanging baskets located just outside of the redeveloped Royal William Yard, it was surprisingly contemporary inside although not so much that it had lost any character. A small courtyard garden was located at the rear of the pub.

The pub consists of two rooms with a small room containing a pool table off to the left and a larger room to the right. The bar counter was situated between the two with access to both. There was pale wood strip on the floor and pale blue woodwork on the lower part of the walls with cream plasterwork elsewhere. A TV screen was showing a football match, although the volume was on very low so this was not too intrusive. Seating was mostly blue padded stools, both at the bar counter and along the right hand wall where a ledge was provided to rest your pint on. The obligatory display of knots in a glass case was up above the bar counter.

Beers on tap were Bass and Tribute, whilst a third pump appeared unused. Ciders meanwhile were Thatcher’s Gold and Strongbow Cloudy Apple.
