Standard Marston's new build carvery on a reclaimed factory site. Predominantly aimed at diners but not unpleasant for a jar or two, and does at least serve mild. The name apparently relates to a 'spirit' which protected local miners. Draught ales were Pedigree, Wainwright, Hobgoblin and Banks's Mild.

A new Marston's food barn in the picturesque surroundings of a Morrison's and such like. Has a beer garden. The interior is a large L-shape, part partitioned, and it is in different colours (with a brick effect in one part). There is eclectic modern furniture and a few pictures on the walls. I didn't see a TV, music was at a decent level. Service was friendly and the place busy enough with family diners (attracted by the kid's area). Beer has usual and a few classier taps, with 4 real ales: Lancaster Bomber, Hobgoblin, Bombardier and a decent Banks's MILD. A food barn, but at least there is a choice of drink.
