Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Dog & Parrot

Far too big to be considered a micro-pub, but still an excellent alehouse nevertheless... Having said that, all but one (reserved 'till later) table was available early on a Thursday evening. Anyway, the furniture and decor was semi-traditional, and the strong community appeal was evident. Five real ales were available from the handpumps, including Welbeck Abbey's Kaiser (£3.60) and Sligo, plus real ales from Thornbridge, Blue Monkey and Stancil.

One room place with the bar to the rear left. Seven hand pumps - all working - three from the Muirhouse Brewery. Various taps behind the bar. There was entertainment on Saturday afternoon. Would revisit.

As noted below this is a larger micropub but is a "proper" one with no music or TVs. They do have a few keg options and a few speciality gins.
It's an open plan room with wooden floors and the bar on the rear left. The seating is mainly low and there is plenty of it.
All seven hand pumps were going on my visit with Blue Monkey Little Loco Pale, Elgood's Golden Newt, Cross Bay Red IPA, Muirhouse Dog & Parrot house beer & Chocolate Mild, Lincoln Green Marion and Great Heck Taiheke. I went for the Blue Monkey beer (£3.50) which was in good nick. I thought this was a decent micropub.

This is one of several micropubs in the area, and I must admit that on my visit this was the one that I was least keen on. This may have had something to do with the interior, which I thought was a little overdone, or it may have been the customer with the dog - or was it plural? - which I can find off-putting if the dog (or its owner) expects everyone to be a dog lover. Anyway, I was going to go back for a second visit before writing a review, but that hasn't happened yet, so here we are.

The converted shop retains its original floorboards, but everything else appears to have been made of recycled and stained timber. There's a brick fireplace and a solid fuel stove. In the toilets, urinals have been fashioned from lager kegs. There's nothing not to like, and yet I found myself underwhelmed. The beer range was interesting, with mostly local beers including a recreated Home Ales Robin Hood Pale (see photos for others). I must go back for a second impression.

A fairly large Micro only opened four weeks ago and was previously an outlet for Boots the Chemists. The interior consists of one large room, with the bar along the back wall and a log burning stove over on the left hand wall, which was welcomed on such a cold day. The majority of the interior was finished in a rustic looking stained timber, which included the bar and bench seating around the perimeter walls. Conduit lighting above the bar made a interesting feature. Five ales and two ciders, the Aurora Light Show and Priors Well Wolfcatcher were in superb condition.
