Formerly The Jesmond House Hotel, this has a standalone bar for non-patrons with four handpumps - two Ramsbury beers and a Moles with a fourth a real cider. An OK-ish RPA was £1.65 for a half and staff were be-aproned as you'd expect. Background noise was provided by a crackly radio tuned into a commercial station, so plenty of crackly adverts too. I've been in worse incarnations of hotel bars, but this didn't do too much for me.

Features on Whatpub and after visiting tonight is very much part of the local drinking scene and none of the patrons were staying there. A man did walk in who was staying but once he'd been directed to where he needed to be checked in I was done.

Bar is straight ahead on entry with the restaurant side of things off on the left. The bar area has an L shaped bar at the rear with an open area for the main area with a mixture of tables and chairs with some bar stools by the bar.

The walls are adorned with vintage GWR adverts of many places across the South West and are pleasant to look at.
