Sometimes known as just The Rum Shack, it’s pretty much as before and still not very Carribean, although the music being played on my latest visit certainly was. There has been some redecoration including the removal of the thatched roof over the counter, the scaffolding poles remain. Beer quality was a bit average. No anti-covid stuff in operation.

Visited on Friday. Face masks are still required and there is a "no waiting at the bar" sign. Admittedly I missed this on entering, and went straight to the bar to peruse the pumps and place my order. I didn't get told off though, but on placing my order was told I could sit down and she would bring my drink over. Payment was then taken by card at the table.

Four hand pulls for cask ale, one was off, leaving Corncrake by Orkney Brewery (£1.75/half), something by Moorhouse's and something by Ossett. The Corncrake was a bit disappointing, drinkable but had a bit of a chemical taste. I have had the bottle version in the past, and that was much better.

I was expecting a bit more of a rummy / Caribbean theme to this bar, but unfortunately it just felt like a fairly minimalist generic cafe bar. I'll probably give it another go at some point but perhaps not in any rush.

This is one of many shop converted bars that have sprung up on North Parade. It's an open plan room with the bar and a kitchen on the far left. The floor is wooden and there are plenty of low tables and chairs. While the main emphasis seems to be on cocktails and spirits (mainly rum) there are four hand pumps which on my early Friday visit had three unused and one badged with Golden Goose which I believe comes from Goose Eye Brewery. This was in decent nick and reasonably priced at £3.00. It seems that it is closed Monday & Tuesday but on the other weekdays opens at 10:00. It was certainly the only North Parade bar open before midday on a Thursday. It seemed OK but may be rather different of an evening.

A small café bar with loads of rums on the menu as you might expect from the name. The surprise is that they have 4 handpumps, only 2 in use on my Friday, late afternoon visit though. The whole place is a bit bland, but my beer was in good nick. I'd probably not bother next time I'm on North Parade though.

Another venue on North Parade that unfortunately was not open on a Tuesday afternoon earlier this month. It claims to be open from midday (both on WhatPub and its own Facebook page) but it was closed when I passed just after midday and still closed when I went by again at around 4pm. I do wish places would put a little effort into publishing accurate opening hours.

Four hand pumps but nothing above 4.5% ABV. A decent Theakstone's IPA at 5.1% was on keg. Just the one room.

Located at the opposite end of North Parade to the City Gent it has four pulls with two in use, Yates on one plus one from Old Spot, neither of which actually did hit the spot. There's a few interesting bottles behind the counter in a back corner of the single squarish room and not much in the way of Caribbean décor; a bit of thatch over the counter is about it. This is held up by scaffolding poles which also form the foot rail and hand rail. As well as the beer, rum & cocktails are supplied. Owned by same people as the Cricketers and Choux Choux in Keighley but it's more like a down market Choux Choux than a Cricketers.
