Housed in a railway arch this is owned by the people behind the Euston Tap. Quite a basic interior serving 14 keg and 6 cask.

The smallest of arches, its actually a good use of what was presumably just an open walkthrough arch between streets. Clinical with stools and high tables, bar under one wall with cask and many keg offerings.

In the 2018 Good Beer Guide, so I came for the tick knowing its not really my cup of tea.

Hosted in a railway arch it has a beer keller feel to the place. High bences to encourage communal drinking.

God knows how many beers on.... 20? All chalked up above the bar with a one word description. A fiver for a Adnams (one of the few recognised breweries) bicycle kick - described as Pale, more like lager. Decent enough pint.

I've got my tick, so I'll be off somewhere more traditional next time in the area.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Waterloo Tap

Housed in a single railway arch between Waterloo East and Hungerford Bridge, with space for a limited amount of furniture and decor largely restricted to bare bricks. Mind you, the copper bar-back has an impressive array of shiny handles to look at and ponder what to select. Four of six cask ale taps in operation on this visit, offering Dark Star Hophead, Vale Brill Gold, Titanic Plum Porter and Kent Brewer's Gold (£4.00) but all 20 keg taps appeared to be on, dispensing a huge variety of beers (at prices ranging from £4.20 to £7.00 per pint) plus a solitary cider.

Small basic bar under the arches opposite the main entrance of Waterloo BR. Arched bare brick ceiling (needs a scrub) with plate glass at either ends of the arch. Two raised U-shaped banquettes at the back and high table/stool seating in the main area, quite closely packed. There’s a copper bar back and all the lines sprout from here. Six ales on; Siren, Fyne, Gypsy Hill, Exit 33 and Marble Bitter (which was a little listless but at competitively priced at £3.50). There are also 20 keg taps with the inevitable mark-up (£4.80 for a 3.8 per cent Bad Co anyone?) but the prices are clearly marked on a blackboard above the bar. Overall, it’s a good stop for a quick beer but it’s too functional/sterile to be classed as a 'must-visit'.

Better than I was expecting,I went in at a quiet time and noted that the double circular banquettes at the rear of the bar were a comfortable place to sit and could accomodate a group of friends if you could nab one,so it may not be vertical drinking all night. There are various beer shelves to rest you pint and a small outside area has a wall at shelf height, making it a discrete place to sup.
Another feature was the very reasonable real ale prices for London,I had a terrific Bad Seed Cascade for £3.80.The other cask options on my trip were Redemption Trinity,Vocation Heart & Soul,Siren Craft Soundwave IPA and Great Yorkshire Blacked Out which I thought was a very decent range, with a mix of styles and well thought out.Although keg options dominate,5 decent real ales mark this out as a place to visit when in the area, and it's on the way to the South Bank from the station ,so a great place for a pre performance beer. Not quite an 8 ,but very worthy 7 .

The Waterloo Tap was a long time in the making - they started tweeting about their new premises in June 2013, but for various reasons opening day didn't come around until March 2016. Part of the chain of station-side bars familiar to commuters in Sheffield, York, Euston et al, this is a small pub set into a railway arch a short distance from the station itself. The arch can be accessed from the front or back and has been simply appointed with a tiled floor in the bare brick vault which has the drawback of creating a loud echo effect when the place is busy (which seems to be most of the time). A metal fronted servery runs down the side wall with a tap lined bar back that brings their sister pub, the Euston Tap, to mind, with blackboards above listing all the beers available. High tables and stools have been arranged in the centre of the room whilst some comfier high padded benches can be found on the opposite wall. A neon pub sign hangs in one of the full height windows at either end of the room, which I imagine help to brighten the place up in daylight hours. Some very basic and rather cramped toilet facilities are crammed into one corner, but for some reason the doors weren't marked, so it was only later into my visit that I discovered the right hand door is a gents only facility.
The bar supports a good number of handpulls which were dispensing Redemption Big Chief and Trinity, Alechemy Rhapsody and EH54, Kirkstall Special Bitter and Oakham Citra. Twenty keg taps had beers from craft heavyweights such as Vibrant Forest, Cloudwater, Kirkstall and Beavertown among others. Bar staff were very pleasant and I enjoyed pretty good pints of the Special Bitter and Rhapsody whilst chatting about how popular the pub has proven since it opened.
This place has much more in common with the smaller Euston Tap than it does with its plush Northern siblings in York, Sheffield or Harrogate. Its compact layout means that the timing of your visit will probably influence your enjoyment more than the quality of the beer on offer, which should be consistently good. Waterloo has been crying out for an improved pub scene for some time and this is a great boost for the area.

Pretty cold soulless interior with large arched windows to front and back gives it a goldfish bowl effect.Dirty aged brick ceiling would have been nicer with a clean. One shared toilet with queue when busy.Good beer selection and the prices are very good for this area.Electronic beer boards are hard to read unless you can get near to them or have 20/20 vision.Still cheap beer and good selection outweighs the other gripes.

As described below, functional and basic, which is a good thing in this part of Town. Not at all busy, possibly because of its understated and dated exterior, not appealing to the masses when compared with other businesses here. Toilets are a bit primitive, which might also keep out the tourists. Indeed, the only customers in where ale lovers. Six cask and 20 keg beers on this time. I went for the Redemption Trinity which was in very good condition. I can see this being a regular pit-stop.

Surprisingly not all that busy on my Saturday night visit, maybe due to the bank holiday weekend.Minimalistic in furnishings so little in way of interest apart from the beer of course, all taps were were operational so the choice was vast,I didn't initially realise cask beer was available as its not really clear without a bit of studying what is what, the middle six taps are cask. I went for a keg offering though in Beavertown Gamma Ray which came up to expectations. Although the venue leaves me a little cold I'm sure to re-use it due to its location and impressive beer range.
