Komakino . left this review about The Chequers

Tucked away from the main drag through Watlington next to a secondary school, The Chequers is an attractive-looking Brakspear house, both externally and internally. The four handpumps rather blandly dispensed just Brakspear Bitter (times two) and Thatchers Cider, with the fourth being unused. A smattering of drinkers and diners soon disappeared, leaving just myself, my drinking companion and a couple. The interior is cosy-looking, it offers a decent pub grub menu and the opening hours are old school (open at lunchtime, closed in the afternoon), but the unimaginative ale choice sees a few marks lost, and not feeling the Brakspears, we curtailed our visit for the nearby Fat Fox
