Saison is one of many small bars down this stretch of trendy Manchester. At the front of the bar is some seating, and the bifold doors open onto a couple of tables on the pavement out front. The small bar counter mid-way up the right wall supports craft keg, I went for Squawk’s Mallard (3.25 / half) which was a bit clammy for my liking. At the rear is another small seating area with an exposed brick chimney breast and fireplace that houses a burner. The toilets are downstairs and upstairs is more seating. The service wasn’t the most welcoming, but I think the barmaid may have been a bit shy so I’ll let her off. This place had more of a studenty feel than the other bars, so not aimed at the likes of me.

A small bar with 3 handpumps on the bar. There is possibly an upstairs part but I only drank in the very small ground floor bit. Apart from the real ale there are the usual crafty beers available. Its a lot cheaper than some of the other bars in the immediate vicinity though just as bland.
