A surprisingly good Toby Carvery on one of Bournemouth’s main entry routes. It is a good sized pub with ample parking, sitting on a corner plot near the Kinson area. There is a single large carpeted bar and dining area, with a food counter off to one side and a till in the middle. They do all the usual Toby stuff – carvery for carnivores, cheap mass-produced food for omnivores and a boring wine selection to complement the megakeg line-up. There were two ales on, neither in perfect condition but both still potable through the magic of CO2 and an efficient chiller. There was pleasant background music on which seemed to pacify the under-active clientele, though there were still one or two children zipping around on their scooters inside, racing each other to the slot machines. The staff were very pleasant and professional, especially the manageress who stoically ignored the Ritalin-dodging rug-rats. Free WiFi was available. I enjoyed a pint of Doombar in a comfortable seat without too much distraction, and I would be happy to drop in again when passing.
