Blackthorn _ left this review about Framptons

A new opening in a venue that was until recently La Tasca, it’s housed in quite a grand looking building with good sized windows overlooking Pultney Bridge and is divided in to two halves with a bar to the right and more of a restaurant area to the left.

The paint scheme is entirely black which could perhaps make it a little gloomy, but the high ceilings and plenty of natural light seemed to counteract this. Contrasting white paintwork was on the elaborate cornices and there was gold lettering and gold edged mirrors on the walls with wood strip on the floor. An unusual feature was a couple of large stainless steel tanks of Czech beer mounted up above the bar. Some open shelving being used as a bookcase divided the bar from the restaurant area and a brick fireplace was alongside this. Seating was fairly limited with just two or three tables and a few stools at the bar and along the window, which admittedly was a nice spot to sit and take in the views.

Beers on tap were Gem and Prophecy from Bath Ales, along with St. Austell’s Tribute, whilst a fourth pump appeared unused. Ciders were Orchard Thieves which I’ve not come across in this neck of the woods previously, although it was a shame that this had just run out leaving just Symonds Founders Reserve. Prices seemed quite ridiculous with a pint of the cider and a G&T coming in at £11.20.

Overall, this didn’t really do it for me, although it’s difficult to pin down exactly why. Probably a combination of the lack of seating, no decent cider, the prices and a complete lack of any sort of cosiness means that it’s not anywhere I’ll be rushing back to unfortunately.
