Basic London pub with two rooms and the bar in the middle. Couple of reversed hand pumps - the rest keg rubbish.

There was no real ale (maybe I was unlucky as there was a handpump), and no sign of food, but I was in very early at around 11.15 AM.

This is a traditional inter-war pub that retains much of its original layout. The old public and saloon bars are separated by a wall with a doorway in it (but no door now), and behind the saloon bar on the left is a large lounge. All the rooms retain their fielded panelling to half height, above which is a sort of "brewer's rustic" with rough lathed walls and black beams; all quite false of course, as Walworth Road is about as un-rustic as you can get. There's a very simple bar back with a dumb waiter, plus a brick fireplace, and TVs of course. All furnishings are normal tables and chairs.

They have a quiz night on Tuesday, and live music on Sundays. This is a down to earth locals' pub, which was quite busy when I visited on Tuesday morning, no doubt because East Street market was underway. This is the sort of unpretentious pub that I like, but a decent ale would be a very welcome addition.

The Good Intent is situated in the heart of the east street market which was still in full swing at 5.30 in the afternoon.
Once inside the i had a drink in an oblong shaped room which had comfy bench seating, there was another seperate room which i did'nt look in.
There were two pumps on the bar with one having a Doom Bar clip on,but when i asked for the Doom Bar i was told they dont do it anymore, this left me with John Smiths smooth crap to drink, this was up to its usuall standards crap.
I quite like doing pubs in market locations, but this pub was let down by the lack of one real ale.
