Will Larter left this review about The Crown & Conspirator

It's not clear what sort of building this was to start with, and its recent history (see WhatPub link) has been more restaurant than pub, but this latest version includes an attempt to give the impression of age with a fireplace obviously imported from elsewhere, but installed, incongruously and therefore unconvincingly half-way up the wall. Maybe it's intended as a conversation piece. The dark ceiling tends to emphasise features like this, with mirrors and windows making sure they are well lit.

The bar is one such feature, with three hand pumps and nine keg taps. Two of the beers were from Weetwood, rebadged as house beers, with Timothy Taylor Boltmaker on the third. My half of the house best bitter was in very good condition, and the person that served me was friendly and interested in my mission to check out the pubs in Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme. The most intriguing feature here was the beer garden at the rear, which has a retractable roof, so it's good for whatever weather is thrown at it.
