Atmospheric little bar housed in the 13th century crypt of the Augustinian priory. Small bar in the corner which sells all manner of snacks, cakes and postcards etc. Lager, cider and stout on keg alongside a couple of ales on hand pull. Felinfoel Double Dragon and Tudor Blorenge golden Ale. I went for the Tudor and it was excellent.
All in all a cracking little find in the middle of nowhere. A bit of a trek to get here but well worth it.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about Llanthony Priory Hotel

We had planned to start our tour of Monmouthshire pubs in the remote village of Llanthony, but approaching from the north, we were forced to turn around just 3 miles short of the village due to a landslip on the country lane through the valley. Locals said this road had been closed since last winter.

After a 30-mile and 1-hour diversion, which also included a few other pubs we were originally planning to visit later in the day, we arrived at the Priory and parked in a field, not noticing the main car park at first.

The bar and hotel are situated in a building next to the remains of the Priory. It is a cellar bar with only 3 or 4 tables. Another family were having a meal at one table, but all other customers were sat on the grass outside amongst the ruins.

The barmaid/landlady seemed to have a fairly sharp and to the point approach to matters, but nonetheless was not too unfriendly. We were surprised to find 3 real ales and a decent keg and bottled beer selection. Take outs of the cask ales were also possible.

Felinfoel Double Dragon is the regular ale. On our visit, the 2 guest ales were both from Untapped - Sundown & Monnow. My Sundown was enjoyable.

A great find that will allow you to indulge in a bit of tourism without venturing too far from a bar!
