Komakino . left this review about The Blackbird

A flat-roofer in a much-maligned estate south-east of Oxford's centre which gained some notoriety in the early 90s. I've been in here before, and it isn't the ogre it's made out to be although the clientele was doing it's best to be as raucous and unsettling to the casual visitor as it could be during my Monday arvo visit, baying over a pull-down screen tuned into At The Races and showing horseracing coverage. You enter into an L-shaped room underneath a sign which states 'Always a Warm Welcome'. The bar is a similar L-shape and the area in and around houses a pool table, stools against the bar, and various, limited seating. Sparsely decorated, another TV was tuned into a second racing channel (much louder than the larger screen) and a jukebox and fruit machine were also spotted. Predictably, no real ale available - Bank's Original on keg ans bottles of light ale were the closest contenders as well as bottles of Dragon Stout on a 'cold shelf' (something I haven't seen in a pub for years). I ordered a pint of Guinness (£3.70) and kept my head down.
