Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Shrewsbury Arms

Community pub in the small village of Kingstone, stocking 3 real ales and doing a good trade in Sunday lunches.

There is a room for drinkers that wraps itself around the bar and a separate dining room. In addition, there is a patio for outdoor drinking to the front. On our mid-afternoon visit on a Sunday, quite a few diners had spilled into the bar itself. However, this may have been due to them having canine company. There were at least 4 dogs in the bar area, making it difficult to move around the pub at times.

The 3 real ales were Marston's Pedigree and 2 from Uttoxeter - Admiral Gardner First Lord & Dr Johnson. Both were in a decent condition. However, ordering a couple of halves and 2 bags of popadoms, I was a little taken aback by a bill of over £9. I enquired about the price of each item, suspecting I'd been charged for pints, only to be told that the popadoms were £2.50 each per bag. Indeed, looking at the menu, we soon ascertained that food was not particularly cheap either. The Sunday lunch was £18, with an additional £7.25 for a starter. Even being from London, this seemed a little on the steep side and not the sort of pricing I would associate with a community village local in rural Staffordshire.
