Roger Button left this review about Falls Country Club

This dreadful tourist trap of a pub rather pretentiously labels itself as a Country Club but appears to be little more than a basic bar with a restaurant tacked on to one end and a very large car park making it very much a designer pub for the summer coachloads visiting the nearby spectacular waterfalls from which the pub, sorry, Country Club, takes its name.

The bar area is quite bland with pub by numbers décor and presumably an attempt to recreate what Americans and other gullible parties presume to be a typical English pub but the place has so little character that you will suddenly appreciate the pub ambience of a Wetherspoons. Every table was laid out with a pack of tourist guides and leaflets as if the next coachload was imminent. Through the large picture windows there are a few scenic views of the surrounding hills but not of the river or falls themselves that are a short but steep 10 minute walk down the hill.

No Ales at all, just keg Theakston Best, Guineess and a couple of standard lagers / ciders and fairly pricey although the snacky food did look reasonable value. The ice cream flag fluttering by the entrance pretty much sums the place up but I mistakenly thought this was the only pub / bar / country club in Aysgarth so was a bit miffed to find the George & Dragon 200 yards down the road. Don’t make the same mistake.
