UPDATE: Refurbished in 2015 (as per Quinno's photo) and now has pastel walls, landscape pictures, although it retains its dart lane and a TV showing sport. A mixed crowd of locals. Music was a little loud. Three real ales: Spekky Hen, Holden's Golden Glow and Enville Ale (OK). Certainly better than my first experience.

Oct 2009: A corner pub, with white rendered exterior.

The interior is open plan, with the bar tucked into the corner. It is predominantly white in decor, with some wallpaper a bit ripped, a few holes in the plaster and scrathes on the tables - in short a little beaten up. There had been a slight effort to give it this blandy modern look, with a small sofa in one corner and some strange pictures dotted on the walls. There is a dart board and a large screen TV, which was showing the final stages of X Factor, and around which the clientele and barmaid were clusted like scouts around a campfire. Indeed, as soon as the result was announced, the whole pub seemed to go out for a fag to discuss the implications. A serious business.

Beer; well its tap tosh, with Banks's MILD. No real ale. Further, I had to wrestle a space to settle at the bar through the cartons of take-away meals and a tub of sweet and sour sauce. The drink had a bigger head than Jack, the Pumpkin King. After watching the X Factor for a few more minutes (clearly a pivotal moment in the programme), the barmaid asked me to take a swig, so she could top it up. Amazingly, it tasted ok after all that

A locals pub, youngies place, or a training centre for X Factor judges. I won't return

A Marstons-branded local they have spent a few quid on – pub carpet, Farrow & Ball colour scheme, proper coal fire but ultimately not anything intrinsically impressive to write home about bar Desmond’s chair looking like it’d been left out in the yard for a month. Very blokey clientele, with TV football on the go (though weirdly it was Serie A rather than the Premier League game) and we didn't feel particualry welcome. Three pumps with two on, GK OSH and Marstons One Hop, the latter of which was flat and listless. A sub-optimal experience rather than an intrinsically bad pub.
