Built in around 1786, The Harrow sits in a small hamlet just outside Gillingham and Walderslade, yet has managed to retain its country pub character despite being rebuilt after a serious fire in 2010. It is unpretentious, has a traditional layout and modern features and is very welcoming. THere is a large car park and it has two bars and a small function room. The smaller saloon bar is mainly laid for diners, while the public bar is basic, has a woodburner, a tv screen (muted this time), rather awful pine-clad walls and wooden floors. It is family friendly, has free wifi and even offers a free ride home to the nearby housing estates. There were 3 ales on, though the Hobgoblin had just gone off when we arrived. I had a pint of Brakspears, which was in perfect condition despite being just a bit too chilled. An historic pub which is well worth seeking out.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Harrow Inn

The 'To Let' sign outside isn't a good omen, but at least it is still open. Apparently there is no food available until new people take over, but there are still two real ales on - Bombardier and GK IPA - and the former was in good condition. Let's hope that some good people are found to take this place on - it has the attractions of being a country pub, but with plenty of potential customers in the nearby Medway Towns conurbation It also has reasonable scope for enhanced facilities including a reasonably-sized beer garden.
