A traditional town inn that still does B&B. From the outside it looks quaint, in keeping with the historic high street it has served for over 300 years, but inside it is more functional than pretty. The front bars have been knocked through to create an open plan bar and dining room, which appears a bit battered – broken screen above the bar, and most of the iron wall lights have been attacked. The barman was friendly enough, and the locals were robust in their banter. There is a dartboard in the bar, the room is carpeted and there is a tv which wasn't switched on. Food was standard pub grub, though very much overpriced, as was the beer. Two ales on draft, Robinson's Dizzy Blond and Doombar, plus Orchard Pig Reveller. It's OK to drop in for a pint or a bite provided you don't mind blowing some brass.

We arrived Friday afternoon and was warmly greeted and shown our rooms which were spotless. We had our evening meal it was first class and the service was excellent.
We all slept well and had a full english breakfast.
One of our party had a birthday and the staff kindly dressed the tables and hung banners for him. We all had a great weekend.
