Blue Scrumpy left this review about Rose & Crown

Town centre pub with very limited opening times. We'd been in and around the market place shortly after 3pm when it was closed. With the best pubs in town to the east of the market place, it did not seem worth heading back to this place on the west side of the centre.

I wasn't sure whether it closed again at 11pm or midnight, but I returned at 10pm to find the front door locked. I could see people inside, so undeterred I managed to enter through a side entrance.

The barmaid was shutting early as they had been so quiet. Three real ales were on, but they were fairly bog standard compared with the better pubs in the town. Thwaite's Wainwright & Robinson's Dizzy Blonde are the regular beers. I chose the guest beer, which was Lancaster Blonde.

The barmaid was friendly. However, I wasn't surprised the place was quiet. Just 4 other customers were there when I arrived and I left the same 4 customers finishing their drinks when I departed. With such limited opening hours, I cannot see this place surviving for too much longer.

Brainy Pool left this review about Rose And Crown

Pleasant if boring modernised pubco pub. Three real ales on of which Yorkshire Blonde was the most ‘interesting’. I was alone with the landlady this afternoon so I suspect it’s geared up more for evenings.

Resplendent looking pub with a pleasant interior. A central U-shaped bar serves you 4 cask ales from the nationals.

Chorley Phantom Drinker left this review about Rose And Crown

Halloween night in the Rose was another good night out. The Landlord is looking at the small things which make the difference between a good night out or staying in with your TV and supermarket priced beer. Two real ales on the Cumberland was a delight. Staff attentive and friendly. Had got into the theme of Halloween and added to the general ambience of the night out.
Overall an older crowd but some younger people in too. A nice mix and the ladies seem comfortable with the surrounds as not just a boozer for old men.
Music on low enough to allow conversation and football catered for in one side but not intrusive to the majority. One thing my ladyfriend and I could not believe was the real roses on the bar and some of the tables. For an evening session this was a nice touch for the special evening.
I nearly gave this a 10 but is there perfection? That said the Rose and Crown isnt far off and anyone in Chorley missing this pub on their travels is just missing the best pub in town at the moment.
Landlord and staff are doing a cracking job. Long may it continue.

New refurb, good atmosphere, good real ales, sports on, friendly staff helping to make this one of the better pubs in Chorley at the moment.
