Pretty much still as described by Alan below almost 8 years ago. This venue was quite busy with a 100% male crowd of about 20 a bit before 6.15pm. Racing from Toulouse on Sky Sports on a few TV’s dotted around the walls and the pool table unoccupied at the back. Would be 100% certain this is the same carpet that Alan trood on during his visit. Missing was any beer on hand pump, the three clips turned around and looking like Doom Bar (what else) might have been the most recent offering. What else to consume here but a pint of John Smiths, although the Worthington was a tempting alternative. This and the previous venue on this crawl of Penge were literally at the opposite ends of the quaffing spectrum. Beer choices aside I would concur with Alan though that this was a pleasant pub and I did linger more than the previous venues - OK that might have been the John Smiths!

The Crooked Billet is the closest pub to Penge East train station so this was my last pub in this area of South East London.
Once inside there is a single L shaped room which is carpeted and has comfy bench seating, there is a pool table to the rear right.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Courage Best which went down well, the other beer was Pedigree.
I thought this was a very pleasant pub to have a drink in.
