Set back from the Cottingham Road with an outdoor patio area to the front. I strode straight through the patio as it was far too cold to consider drinking outdoors.

I remained in the front bar, but apparently there is another room to the rear. None of the handpulls were clipped, but on enquiry Landlord was on. Amongst the keg selection was Camden Pale, Brewdog Punk IPA & Beavertown Neck Oil. There is no real cider anymore.

Since appearing in the 2015 Good Beer Guide, the pub appears to have slumped and hasn't appeared in any of the subsequent editions. Not having any of the handpulls clipped when real ale is still available seems counter-productive. The pub was very quiet, but dogs are welcome. Sky Sports News was showing on the various TV screens.

A very neat and well kept pub about 2 miles North of Hull city centre. Lots of buses pass nearby though on Beverley Road or Newland Avenue. The front room is nicely wood panelled and has a matchwood ceiling. The rear room is almost a separate sports bar with 5 pool tables. There's a decent sized patio at the front for when it's sunny, as it was during our visit. 7 handpumps serving Greene King IPA, Tetleys Bitter and 4 changing guests alongside a real cider. My pint was in very good nick. It had been about 4 years since my previous visits, but I'm pleased to say that it's still as good as ever this time around. Listed in the CAMRA GBG2015.
