A superb little suburban pub, very traditional in feel, pretty well described by Rex, below, though the water facility seems to have disappeared. Ales on were two from Windsor and Eton, Sharp's Special and Rebellion IPA, all in excellent condition. Dog biscuits were also available, the staff were very pleasant, the locals welcoming, and overall this was an exceptionally enjoyable evening. I shall certainly return here.

There are three handpumps in what I would regard as the main (carpeted) lounge bar on the left, dispensing Rebellion Zebedee; Berkshire Good Old Boy; and Sharp's Special. Down a step on the right is a smaller room (public bar) with a flagstone floor, and the bit of the bar counter that extends to here had a further two handpumps, dispensing Doom Bar and Rebellion IPA during my Thursday lunchtime visit. So, as the beers are not doubled up you need to visit both rooms to see everything that's on as they don't seem to go in for double clipping, and I didn't spot any list of ales available. There was a water dispenser on the counter, along with glasses so customers could help themselves without having to waste the barmaid's time. A nice touch I think. There's also a coffee machine which is obviously no great surprise. As stated by the previous reviewer, there's a large amount of outside seating at the front.
At the back is a further room with tables laid for diners, but this is a relatively recent addition to the pub. There were old posts and beams all over the place, and although the main structure of the pub (excepting the dining room at the back) is unchanged much of the beams and posts are not original and added to give the place a rustic appeal. But there's enough of heritage interest here for the pub to earn a place on CAMRA's Regional Inventory of pubs with historic interiors.
There are single sheet menus on all the tables with main courses from £10 (chestnut mushroom risotto and truffle oil), to £16.50 (28-day aged sirloin, etc, etc) - I had the Case Burger, smoked cheese and triple cooked chips for £11. Spurning the dining area at the back, I obviously sat in the public bar area. As an aside, I wonder why they feel a need to fry (or cook?) the chips three times. My local chippy seems to be able to do it in one go! I wonder if it's because it lets them fry a load in one go, and give them another boost of hot fat to heat them up when some punter orders chips? They certainly appeared as if they had been heated up, but maybe I'm doing them an injustice. Anyway, I didn't think that re-frying them had done them any favours.
Ignoring my food rant - I think that this is a lovely pub that I would recommend. It's a bit out of the way (although it's on a bus route), hence the large car park at the front which was well populated on Thursday afternoon. I guess this is the sort of place where you would get retired people going out drinking during the week - shocking behaviour. My pint of Good Old Boy was in super shape, and I would be very happy to visit this pub again.

The Case in Altered is a 2011 GBG listed traditional pub just sitting back from the Eastcote / Pinner road next door to Eastcote Cricket Club. Originally a 17th century building it was remodelled in the thirties to give it a rural interior décor, although it’s a long time since this part of Middlesex was rural.
The strange name comes from the colloquial Spanish . ‘Case desaltar’ from the time of the Peninsular War, (which loosely translates to ‘House of Jumping’) and over the years sign writers have altered the letters to try and give the pub name an English meaning when none was there in the first place.
Internally it looks like it was originally a two roomed stone building with a small snug room with a coal fire to the right of the main entrance, and then the main L shaped bar to the left. Then to the back is a big barn room which, although it extends the available seating, looks rather like its been bolted on and not in keeping with the rest of the pub. But has the advantage that the footy is shown in the barn on a big screen and therefore leaves the rest of the traditional part of the pub sport free for those not interested.
There is a large car park to the front and the internal space is complemented by a good sized front garden area which has a large amount of bench seating.
Although a GK house it gets in the GBG by having a guest ale policy which regularly changes with beers from outside the GK Stable. As well as the house ales of IPA, OSH and Moorlands Original, there was Directors and Sharps Doombar during my most recent visit last week, and the Moorlands was a good pint.
