I never visited this establisment when it was the Reservior Inn. Looking at vintage photos of the pub, it looked liked a place with character, a little rough and ready perhaps. Neither did I visit when it was Koloshi Indian restaurant. Before it closed, it had another brief spell as The Reservoir Inn, before closing for a major renonovation and a rebrand.
It reopened in July 2026, as an upmarket dining establishment with beverages from the Deya Brewery, and Hawkstone amongst others. My partner and I, paid a visit to The Fox a few days ago. Normally this wouldn't be our kind of hostilery, but curiosity got the better of us!
Both the exterior and interior of the pub, have been reimagined with light wood panelling and furnishings. The finished effect is minimalist at the time of writing. We ordered a Hawkstone cider, and a beer from the Deya Brewery, which were fine but on the expensive side. There are no handpulls, which might have given the bar a little character, it is quite a long bar! A proportion of the tables were set out for dining, so we sought a corner table with a selection of comfy cushions.
The staff were happy to serve us drinks without buying food, which is a bonus, as was the low volume of the music in the background. It was an interesting experience, but I don't think The Fox will become a regular destination for us.
