The Sea Trout Inn is a traditional Devon Inn dating back to the 15th Century located in the village of Staverton, which is about a 5 minute drive from Totnes. It is in the Dart Valley, a short walk from the River Dart, and a bit more of a longer walk to the Staverton stop on the Totnes to Buckfastleigh Steam railway. It’s focussed on the tourist trade, having 10 B&B rooms and a large conservatory dining area extensive up market food menu.
In saying that though it still works very well as a pub, having two distinct bar areas. A small public bar tucked away to the side (the Stags Bar) supporting a pool table and barstools. And then a much larger lounge bar with leather seating and several dining tables positioned around a large stone fireplace supporting traditional pub food. It’s a Palmers house and the bar supports 5 handpumps serving the range of Palmers beers.
Our experience was that the pub food was excellent and Palmers beers we had were in very good nick. I can’t comment for what it’s like to stay here, but for somewhere to travel to outside of Totnes for food and beer, I highly recommend it.

The Sea Trout Inn is an idyllic, traditional Devon Inn situated in the beautiful surroundings of the Dart Valley, near Totnes. There are 10 en-suite letting rooms, a Fine Dining Conservatory Restaurant serving Modern British Cuisine and two individual bar areas serving freshly prepared, homemade, traditional pub food to a high standard.
