Dating back to around 1600, the pub is situated in a lovely idyllic location on the banks of the river Lugg.
Not visited since the spring of 2000, it doesn't look from either the reviews or website that it hasn't changed much. Certainly a place for some ale in the expansive garden, there was certainly an emphasis on the food; this part of the world isn't great for food, but I do recall having the best steak I've ever eaten but it wasn't cheap and a steak today will set you back £25.
I'd gladly return when next in the area.

This roadside pub is in the middle of nowhere, with the inevitable emphasis on food and accommodation. Not at the expense of beer, for there are two hand pumps on the fairly small bar, with Hobsons Best and Wye Valley Butty Bach the inevitable offering. The Hobsons was in good condition, and I enjoyed a few moments off the road in pleasant surroundings before getting back on my bike for the ride to Leominster.

The pub looks like it's had some money spent, internally at least, with a modern wood floor, what looks like a new chimney sprouting incongruously in the middle of the floor and a solid fuel stove. There's some nice furniture and a pleasant feel about the place, somewhat spoiled by some rather jangly music which I presume must be to someone's taste but it ain't me.

A lovely black and white timbered pub alongside the River Lugg. Very much food oriented-the Ludlow chapter of the Slow Food movement were meeting there in the evening-but drinkers are welcomed; a group of hikers came in to enjoy some well kept Hobson's beer, and consult their maps during our October lunchtime visit.
The food comes highly recommended-naturally my father in law has eaten here-but as this is a pub and beer site we'll gloss over this.
A bit of a land of lost content moment for this writer,as my ancestors left this village in the early nineteenth century to find fame and fortune in that London.I'm not sure if this building was functioning as a pub in those days, but I like to think I was drinking where Adam trod.
