Visited back in March, pre lockdown, and forgot to leave a review at the time. It was a Monday afternoon and I was the only customer in. A traditional feeling pub as you enter, with six hand pulls at the bar. One was off, one had The EPA by Cross Bay Brewing, and there were three Dent beers including Dales Way IPA (£1.90 for a half) and Eden Gold. The Dales Way wasn't anything too exciting but was certainly pleasant enough and it's always nice to try something from a brewery you've not heard of before.

The pub has Wi-Fi, a real fire, a pool table, leather banquette seating and advertises Sky Sports. There is a separate room behind the bar and another to the side, which contains the pool table and access to the gents toilets. I'm pretty sure there was evidence of food being served but I didn't make a note of it.

Perhaps not worth making a special trip to Dent for, but if you happen to be in the area or passing through it's worth a look.

Built on a sharp corner in the centre of the village, this hotel is bigger than expected inside, with a large room, the main public bar, accessed through a door to the left on a corridor which leads to a smaller room at the rear of the bar. This would have been the original public bar, I reckon, now set up as a dining room. The larger front room, with impressive wood panelling, has a games room off it and a fine Victorian fireplace. There are six hand pumps on the bar, with four beers from Dent Brewery, plus a guest and a real cider. Dent beers are also available to take out, at the same price as draught (£3.60 a pint or 500ml). The strong ale, T'Owd Tup 6%, was very easy to drink and a good reason for coming back the next day, weather permitting. (Camra members discount according to WhatPub but I didn't see anything displayed to confirm this on my visits, and of course I forgot to ask.)
