Steve of N21 left this review about Mermaid Bar @ Prom Hotel

Situated at the northern end of the Grotty mile (sorry Golden mile), opposite the Pavilion Pier and surrounded by fast food outlets and fizz emporiums, I didn’t have a great deal of hope for this one, but it turned out to be a bit of an oasis surrounded by dross.
Technically the bar and restaurant of the prom hotel but it functions as a pub in its own right. Internally a spacious single room with a central bar but with several separate seating areas with a couple well tucked away. There are some external tables on the Princes Road side which are elevated and separated from the pavement by glass screens. They do catch the sun but only really have the Pavilion Pier as a vista.
The bar has five real ale hand pumps with two obvious in the middle as you approach then three more at the far right end which are easily missed. For my visit all five were in operation with Lacons Encore Golden Ale, Wolf Brewery Golden Jackal, Adnams Southwold Bitter and Sharps Solar Wave and Doombar, and we went for the first two which were in very good condition.
A fairly extensive traditional pub grub menu and as this was Sunday lunchtime three roasts were being advertised on the specials board above the fireplace. We went for the Beef roast and the scampi and they were both very good both in terms of quality and quantity.
There are three flat screens dotted about which were muted but showing three different sports (cricket, tennis and motor racing), but they are at the far extremities of the pub and can be easily avoided if you are not interested.
Another plus point for this one is the very plush upstairs toilets which would not be out of place in a posh London hotel.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Mermaid Bar (Prom Hotel)

Hardly in a promising area, being close by the Britannia Pier, but the sunny terrace with glazed screens caught my as well as did a Cask Marque sign. Within you find several neatly refurbished seating / dining areas in an overall 'L'-shaped arrangement. Lacons Encore, Woodforde's seasonal Nice Try, Golden Jackal from Wolf Brewery, Doom Bar and two Adnams beers - Southwold and Lighthouse - available from the two banks of three handpumps. Overall, much better than expected.

Great location opposite Britannia pier, a bit of a food pub but they do have several
Adnam's ales on including Explorer which was very good on my 2 visits to this pub.

Nice large pub, part of The Prom Hotel. Bright and cheerful. Friendly staff. Has wheelchair toilet, but I couldn't see a ramp to get in.
